single bells, single bells, single all the way

If there is one thing I enjoy more than Christmas Day it's the days leading up to it. I love the excitement of preparing for it, buying presents, going to parties, listening to Christmas music and especially decorating. There's something about the anticipation of a wonderful thing that makes the waiting so great.

I started wondering why we don't think of relationships in this way. Why we sometimes think being single is the worst thing that we could possibly experience next to a Zombie takeover. Why we dread the waiting and the anticipation of this wonderful thing.

Shouldn't we be preparing for it like we do for Christmas? Not so much buying presents or putting up a tree but preparing ourselves. We need to be enjoying the time we have and figuring out who we are and what we want for our relationships so that we don't settle. Again.

After being in a long relationship you sometimes realize that you've talked yourself out of a lot of things that are on your wish list and that you've lost parts of yourself along the way. Some are best left lost but others are the parts that make you who you are and why people love you. Now is the time to get them back. Now is the time to decorate your life with experiences so you don't look back and wish you had done things when you were young and single.

Dip into the eggnog and deck the halls, ladies!
