whatever happened to...

dating? Like actual ask you in advance, pick you up at 8, take you out to dinner dating?

It seems that dinner and a movie has turned into a text asking you to come over and watch a movie. This is fine BUT it is not a date. (Also, as a rule of thumb, if you receive a text after 9pm from someone who is not your boyfriend asking you to hang out they are just wanting to practice their night moves with you. You've been warned.) The purpose of a date is to get to know someone and to see if you'd like to continue to get to know them. It's difficult to get to know someone while watching a movie or with their tongue down your throat.

I'm not saying you should never go over to someone's house to watch a movie but if you want to set the standard for your potential relationship you should hold out hanging out with him regularly until he offers to take you out to dinner, coffee, or even a walk. And if he never offers? Next please.

I'm mostly speaking to the ladies in the "real world" because we all know that most relationships in college start with going over to watch a movie or drinking a bottle of wine and ending up in their bed. This may have been acceptable to you in college because that was the norm but in the real world you should demand more.

Who you were doesn't have to be who you are going to be!
